BOSTON, MA [July 18, 2025] -- As spring lunges into summer, one of the most fun things about the carefree and casual season is making plans and anticipating the stuff we kinda wanna do with the ones we’re crushin’ on. For The Chelsea Curve, that means popping bottles of Prosecco, taking joyrides on the Lambretta, and letting the day deliver us into a fun and adventurous world far from life’s daily reality checks.
The Boston mod-pop trio lean into this summertime escapism with a firecracker of a new single in “Kindawanna,” an assertive declaration that raises a glass to the good times and the ones we love, set for streaming release on Friday, July 18 on Rum Bar Records.
“It makes me ‘Kindawanna’ jump on top of a table and scream real loud!” says vocalist and bassist Linda Pardee. “It’s Chelsea 2.0 – bigger, badder, maybe even a bit goofier, too!”
And it arrives with perfect timing. If spring is when we experience a rebirth, then summer is when we get back on the scooter and ride out to where we wanna be. And for the Chelsea Curve, that path has been long and winding since they last served up a proper shot of new original music.
Back in May, the stylish trio returned to the scene with a fresh double A-side single featuring a rousing cover of Mickey Lee Lane’s 1960s Northern soul stomper “Hey Sah-Lo-Ney” and an Andy Lewis remix of “Jamie C’Mon” – with both tracks currently hanging steady for several weeks in the Top 5 of the global Radio Indie Alliance Chart – before the 7-inch arrives this summer on Mod Glass Clear or Sharp Suit Black vinyl. And just last month, the band unleashed through new label home of Rum Bar a reloaded CD re-issue of 2022 debut album All The Things – this one dubbed All The Things (And More) — that collects what the band’s been up to in the time since.
It all helps to cap off a wild and tumultuous time for the band, which saw the closing of its original label, Red on Red, after the sudden and tragic passing of its founder Justine Covault; the breast cancer diagnosis of Pardee, who is now back on course after kicking cancer’s ass; and the departure of co-founding drummer Ron Belanger.
Now, Pardee and guitarist and vocalist Tim Gillis are rounded out by Bruce Caporal behind the kit, and the trio flex some extra muscle and a rekindled sense of joy on this euphoric new single, which takes the classic Chelsea Curve sound and cranks up the adrenaline.
“It feels very much like when we released our debut single, ‘Girl Cavedog’, and everything was ahead of us – the world was our oyster, so to speak,” Pardee says. “This is the first song of a batch of new songs we wrote when I was on the mend last year, and Bruce had just come on board.” Adds Gillis: “We’ve been raring to get the new tunes out for a while. We’ve cleaned out the attic and this does feel like a fresh restart. We’ve got Bruce on board, a stash of new material, and it’s great to unleash the next salvo.”
That begins with “Kindawanna,” the first in a series of new singles that’ll arrive bi-monthly to close out the year, with the group’s sophomore album slated for release sometime in 2026. “Kindawanna” is a roadmap set in motion – an exclamation point placed on life and an embrace of all its adventures. For a band that’s already done All The Things, with the record to prove it, “Kindawanna” sets their sights on a new round of action. And it’s the perfect playlist kickstarter for all we wanna do in the months ahead.
“It’s an easy breezy summery luuuuv song,” Pardee admits. “Mushy, ooey gooey and giddy for sure -- I’m totally owning that – but it’s a classic theme of having a hard crush. Though admittedly it is a sweet song, make no mistake -- musically, the song totally kicks arse. I like to think the listener will be uplifted, and bop around with Tim’s guitar hook stuck in their head like a fish hook. But not in a gross way, of course.”
Nothing The Chelsea Curve do is gross, that’s for sure. With the band freshly outfitted by 66 Clothing and Mod Shoes, the trio takes “Kindawanna” and both new and classic material out on the road for several shows this summer both near to and far from home.
The slate kicks off July 13 with a party at The Worthen Cafe in Lowell with friends and comrades Corin Ashley, Stop Calling Me Frank, and DJ Sherman, before bouncing down to New York City on July 19, the day after the “Kindawanna” drop, with their familiar DJ in tow to light up The Parkside with Palmyra Delran & the Doppel Gang and The Pin Ups.
From there, The Chelsea Curve then cross the Atlantic for another England mini-tour, a three-show burst that plays Poco Loco in Chatham on August 21 with The Len Price 3, Burntwick Smugglers, and Cream Soda; followed by Concorde2 in Brighton on August 22 with The Jam’d, Sharp Class, Cian Downing; and then linking up with mod-pop brethren and stateside tourmates Sharp Class to play Ryde Pavilion on the Isle of Wight at the world’s largest scooter rally.
“Kickstands up! Here we go, full speed ahead!” declares Pardee. “After a slight lull last year (dealing with life) we are back in the saddle again, ready to share our new music with the world, both recorded and through live shows. There is a ‘newness’ in the air, not only with powerhouse secret weapon Bruce joining us on drums, but in the songs, the energy, the attitude… we are The Chelsea Curve, all up in your face!”
“Kindawanna” reinforces that classic Chelsea Curve energy – “hooky, power poppy, rapidfire, uplifting,” as Pardee puts it – and it’s already become a live favorite. Produced by the band, it was recorded at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, Massachusetts; mixed at Bluetone Studio across the river in Somerville; and recorded and mixed by Mike Quinn and mastered by Dave Locke / JP Masters.
And as it straddles that classic Chelsea Curve middle ground between punchy punk rock grit and infectious mod-pop slickness, the central current of “Kindawanna” is Gillis’ electrified guitarwork, which snaps like a livewire as the track barrels across its 138-second runtime. Pardee actually secretly recorded Gillis playing the riff at rehearsal, and worked up an entire song around it. After a few rounds through the “patented Chelsea songwriting process – honing, tweaking, sipping,” Pardee notes, “Kindawanna” was born.
“This one fits pretty well into our hooky power pop category, but it’s got a little more of everything – more guitars, more keyboards, more effects, etc.,” Gillis says. “That’s going to carry into future releases. And we’ll dip into other styles here and there – our arms are open wide to possibilities!”
And speaking of arms – it’s got handclaps. Let’s face it, every summer jam needs handclaps.
“The best part of writing [this one] was how quickly the song came together; it just had a really good feel right away, and went from hook to demo to done in a flash!” Pardee says. “And the best part of recording was hearing how monstrous Bruce’s drums are! And BONUS -- there are handclaps too; it’s no secret that I LOVE clapping, so that was a highlight of recording for me! And the guitar solo is stellar – it matches the hookiness of the hook! Not sure how Tim managed to make an entire guitar solo into a hook, but that’s what he did!”
Of course, replacing a co-founding member is no easy task, but The Chelsea Curve hit the ground running by recruiting stylish gentleman and Boston garage rock scene veteran Caporal, who adds some muscle to the backbeat that gives this new batch of music a little added thump.
“Being the newest member of the Curve family, it’s all very exciting,” Caporal says. “There is a lot of energy coming out of Linda and Tim and I’m more than pumped to get to add to it! They bring in songs and give me a lot of freedom to put my own spin on them. And it doesn’t hurt that they are the nicest people I’ve met in a long while.”
From here, the band is eager to just get it all out there – playing shows, releasing new music, and having a good time with the ones we love, watching crushes and flings turn to meaningful relationships. It’s all part of that summer mood, reflecting briefly on the past but embracing the present.
And no better band to soundtrack this vibe than The Chelsea Curve. It’s summer; time to cut loose.
“We wanted to remind the world of who we are, and what we sound like, in a fresh kicked up way,” Pardee concludes. “We all feel that this single marks a clear point in time where the band crosses a line – taking what we’ve done so far, and dealt with so far, and are now moving into another gear. Try and catch us!”

The Chelsea Curve 2025 bio:
The Chelsea Curve want to make you move. But how you do it is up to you. Inspired by Boston and British culture, the mod-pop trio switched on in 2020 with a singular mission to create infectious, punchy, sing-along rock and roll.
Armed with an arsenal of catchy tunes appealing to both the clubs and the pubs, and properly bonded over a love of ‘70s punk and the mod style and sound, The Chelsea Curve are Linda Pardee (bass/vocals), Tim Gillis (guitar/vocals), and Bruce Caporal (drums/vocals). A series of eight monthly singles in 2021, aptly titled The Singles Scene, led to the band’s 2022 debut album All The Things (Red on Red Records), which earned global press and radio airplay, including regular spins on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage.
From there, the stages grew larger, as did the crowds: Playing Boston Calling Music Festival, skipping across the Atlantic for a UK tour, holding court at scooter rallies from Boston to Las Vegas. 2024 saw The Chelsea Curve play the 45th anniversary Mods Mayday show in London around a tour of England, as well as performing stateside with the UK's Sharp Class and Norway's The Cocktail Slippers.
The Chelsea Curve kicked off 2025 with a hit and run US West Coast tour (again with Sharp Class) and then jumped right into the studio to begin recording tracks for their new record. Freshly outfitted by 66 Clothing and Mod Shoes, the band is now looking and sounding sharper than ever! With a new record on the horizon, and partnered with Rum Bar Records, The Chelsea Curve are quickly forging their own rock and roll path connecting the past to the present. And in their world, there is no standing still.

“...the Boston-based band's album is an absolute blast, an incredibly catchy explosion of vibrant, high-spirited rock ‘n’ roll that’s a little bit bubble gum, and a little bit whiskey. It’s unrelentingly upbeat at points, but there’s still a bite.” _Worcester Magazine

"Are the gal and guys of the Chelsea Curve really releasing a new single every month? Man, I hate overachievers, mainly because I'm jealous of, y'know, ambition. I forgive 'em quickly because each of these singles has been pretty damned swell, which is why we play them all on the radio.” _Boppin’ Like The Hip Folks Do (Carl Cafarelli)
“Keep doubling up on all the good stuff! Thatʼs the kind of good advice we need and we get from The Chelsea Curve on new single ʻTop It Up.ʼ Pub rock, power pop, pop punk, old school punk rock (yes, yes, yes and yes)” _The Boston Herald
"The song [‘Inconceivable’] is a dazzling, mesmerizing track ... and they really have a sound that pays homage to the past, while also embracing the musical possibilities of the future." _Music Box Pete

“‘A Better Way’ is a jangly, Jam-like affair. Like the others it sounds like maybe it was a hit before and you just can't recognize it. Singer Linda Bean Pardee has another stellar vocal performance. There's a little Chrissie Hynde in it. The way the song is written allows her to wrap the words around the melody and give them a twist that your ear just loves.” _Boston Groupie News
