BOSTON, MA [October 28, 2022] – The music of FEEP has a certain hypnotic quality. But what happens under this dose of hypnosis can be altered either slightly or significantly based on a few different factors, not the least of which is what the listener is up to at the moment of aural absorption. So as the Boston band unveils its second and latest single, “Waiting,” set for streaming release on Friday, October 28, FEEP’s casual thrust of sound takes on a bit of a hallucinogenic tone.
And that’s by design. “Waiting” is a single that reflects off its own house of mirrors, an organ-led and retro-fed psych-pop cruiser that effortlessly glides down kinetic avenues of indie, garage rock, and post-punk. With a swirling tension and calm urgency, lodging empty threats to fly off the rails at any given moment, it builds upon last month’s debut single “Take A Pill” in shaping the quartet’s forthcoming album, FEEP Has Landed. Leading up to the LP release, a series of live shows bring the record to the stage: November 6 at State Park in Cambridge; November 11 at Taffeta in Lowell; December 3 at The Jungle in Somerville; and December 7 at O’Brien’s in Allston.
Where last month’s inaugural release “Take A Pill” – which earned FEEP immediate and widespread internet radio acclaim and blog praise – was more flippant in lyrical nature, providing sarcastic commentary on modern society and how we must tone ourselves down in order to belong, “Waiting” takes a darker stance while coming off as a little more earnest and a lot more open-ended. What lurks deep within is, again, up to the listener.
“It’s a bit of a personal story, so I’d rather not say too much,” says guitarist and co-vocalist Bobby. “But I’d say generally it’s about a sense of existential ‘couch lock’, wanting to move but liking the comfort of your current situation at the same time.”
It makes sense that “Waiting” surfaces a few days before Halloween, both for its spooky psychedelic ‘60s vibe, rattling at the cage of what feels both throwback and futuristic at the same time, and also as a holiday tie-in for the band’s moniker. FEEP, the character, is probably best known as the fictional big-headed alien host of WNAC-TV’s ‘60s horror and sci-fi movie series Fantasmic Features. And though FEEP, the character, was a mainstay on our older relatives’ television screens several decades ago, FEEP, the band, could lend itself to soundtracks of the modern day – especially scenes where the protagonist is dealing with some serious mind-altering situations.
“Hearing ‘Waiting’ in any movie would be great, but I’d like to see it in a psych freak-out film,” adds Bobby. “You know the scene where the main character takes too much LSD and has an existential trip at the basement party with too many cutscenes.”
If there was a band in that basement, lurking in the corner and performing just beyond the haze, it would be FEEP – the aforementioned Bobby, joined by keyboardist and vocalist Tim; drummer Alex; and bassist and vocalist Fish, who describes the band as “born from a cosmic spark shooting across the void and into your sensory organs.” And while they admit there wasn’t a directive for a certain sound upon formation, “Waiting,” “Take A Pill,” and the eight other tracks on the album certainly strike a consistent tone that paints a specific picture of who this band is. The singles were selected, in part, to offer an appetizer platter for the record soon on its way, and make an instant declaration that invites us to the FEEP universe.
“We’re releasing these singles first to give people a kind of foothold on us,” Bobby admits. “The full album has 10 songs and the vibe is more like a movie front to back. Put on headphones and cruise through the story kind of vibe. We realize this is a big ask if you don’t know us yet, so we wanted to give people some cool shorter tunes they can get into first.”
FEEP first came together in blissful formation during the pandemic, when each of the members’ other bands dissolved due to the Covid shutdown. The four dudes holed up in a sweaty practice space during most of 2021 writing what would become the debut album, honing what would also become the vibe of their live show, and soon took to the backwoods of Pennsylvania to set up a DIY space to put the moods to a proper recording.
“It was very casual at first, just a way to play while COVID had stopped gigs at the time,” Bobby notes. “We quickly realized we had something great, and it very seamlessly transitioned in a serious act.”
But FEEP are far from a finished product. In fact, the hypnosis of the music suggests the future both immediate and in the distance represents the great unknown. But first: A host of live shows, a string of new music, and a continued effort to bring FEEP to the masses – in whichever state they find them.
“We're trying to get better every day,” Bobby concludes, “whether it's songwriting, musicianship, recording, whatever. It's mainly for ourselves. It's just what we love to work at.”

FEEP short bio:
A cosmic spark shooting across the void and into your sensory organs, FEEP was born from the ashes of a few local bands that didn't survive the pandemic lockdown. Shortly after coming together looking to share a musical vision, four dudes with a love of music and some casual prior connections to each other holed up in a sweaty practice space during Summer and Winter 2021 and produced what would become FEEP’s debut album, the forthcoming FEEP Has Landed. As winter began to thaw, FEEP took to the backwoods of Pennsylvania to set up a homegrown DIY space to capture the sonic fruits of last year’s harvest. Now ready for public consumption, FEEP Has Landed is poised for arrival, led by a pair of fall singles in “Take a Pill” and “Waiting.”

Early media praise for FEEP:
“[‘Take A Pill’] might be the best three minutes of new music you experience this fine fall Friday!” _Rock And Roll Fables
“This spellbinding mid-tempo psych jam circles around a bad-ass rotating riff that you can’t get out of your flipped-out mind afterward for a while. Trust me, FEEP will be your new favorite medication.”
_Turn Up The Volume
“Boston's FEEP take their name from WNAC-TV's alien host of Fantasmic Features which aired horror and sci-fi movies in the 1960's. FEEP pretty much sound like a band that would take their name from a 1960's horror host. ‘Take a Pill’ has a certain groovy garage rock vibe from that time period without sounding like they're just copying music from them. It also has just a shade of menace or darkness to it which just adds to the horror show feel. But FEEP sound like a completely modern band that is aware of their musical past and paying tribute to it.” _If It’s Too Loud
