MEDFIELD, Mass. [June 21, 2023] – Fresh off a successful run of spring events, from the FieldFest local music festival to Pride celebration, Bellforge Arts Center has unveiled the lineup and schedule for its Summer Sounds series. Bringing 20 homegrown bands and artists across 10 evenings to the former grounds of the Medfield State Hospital in Medfield, Massachusetts, Summer Sounds is a free, all-ages, all-inclusive showcase for New England music.
It’s also a great way to enjoy music, family, and the outdoors in the middle of the week.
“Join us at Bellforge Arts Center and discover the untapped potential of our local scene at Summer Sounds,” says Director of Programming Paul Armstrong. “Bellforge Arts Center is not just hosting concerts; we’re showcasing the future of music.”
Located at the heart of a sprawling 87-acre campus and historical landmark site, Bellforge Arts Center is a new multi-arts complex designed to support artists, expand cultural opportunities, and nurture the creative community. Long-term renovation and restoration plans include visual and performing arts studios, arts education facilities, a 300-seat performance venue, and more. Currently, all events are held on the expansive open-air lawn just under the iconic bell tower that’s part of Bellforge Arts Center’s Lee Chapel.
Summer Sounds kicks off on Wednesday, June 21, with performances by dayes and Sailor Down, with Medfield’s own Ribpublic serving up tasty treats and a beer and cocktail bar offering adult beverages starting at $5. The weekly series continues each Wednesday through July, welcoming a diverse and eclectic lineup that spans genres, from indie to hip-hop to pop to rock, featuring Notebook P and Naomi Westwater (June 28); Heather Scott and Talia Rose (July 12); Nectarine Girl and Sweetie (July 19); and Little Fuss and Jay Alan (July 26). Ribpublic will be on hand for each June and July event, and the bar will be fully stocked.
In August, Summer Sounds shifts to a weekly Thursday schedule, with food from Walpole’s ThankQue Catering and performances by Miranda Rae, CD Rose, Raavi, Aaron Perrino, Summer Cult, and more. The full schedule and lineup will be unveiled in the coming weeks, so please follow Bellforge Arts Center on Instagram @bellforgearts for the latest.
After Summer Sounds wraps, Bellforge Arts Center’s programming elevates even higher for the fall, as the space welcomes a banner schedule that welcomes Boston alt-rock legends Buffalo Tom (September 9), Cousin Stizz, and the celebrated and acclaimed At The Movies: Grace Kelly With Strings (September 30). A series of four Oktoberfest parties in October closes out the exciting year.
